Association of Southeast Asian Nations+3

ASEAN+3 is a council consisting of the 11 ASEAN countries - Singapore, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Brunei, Laos, Cambodia and East Timor, as well as the 3 +3 countries - China, Japan and Korea. This council aims to foster synergy in political and security cooperation, economic and financial cooperation as well as socio-cultural cooperation.

Overview

The main agenda of this council is to dismantle fraud organizations operating within ASEAN+3 countries. Cross-border online fraud has evolved in recent years into highly sophisticated, systemic criminal activities, with various challenges such as differences in legal provisions and law enforcement capabilities among countries, significantly increasing the difficulty of dismantling such fraudulent structures. Southeast Asia is one of the regions most heavily affected by such fraud, with the three additional countries, China, Japan and Korea, being among the primary victims of online fraud in the region.

In this MUN, delegates will look into the issue of cross-border fraud in Southeast Asia, as well as the positions and attitudes of various countries toward addressing fraud, and discuss joint solutions within the council.

Chen Haoran

Haoran is a Secondary 4 student from Nanyang Girls’ High School. She takes physics, advanced math, history and AEP, a feat she often wonders if she shouldn’t have attempted. If she’s not racking her brains at a math problem or trying to sketch a SEVENTEEN member’s face, she’s probably playing around with her 2 cats, or perhaps one of the three instruments she plays, one of which she’s been at for over a decade. Haoran also likes to call herself a skilled gamer, although her frequent crashouts over miserable losses speak otherwise. BYMUN 2026 will be her first MUN experience, and she hopes all delegates will have a fruitful and eye-opening time at the conference, just like hers.

She’s TOTALLY bilingual and TOTALLY enjoys bridging ideas across cultures and perspectives, a passion that naturally led her to participate in conferences like BYMUN, where she discovered the joy of diplomacy sprinkled with friendly debate.

Seet Zi Lin Kris

Kris is a Secondary 4 student from Nanyang Girls’ High School. With a subject combination of Triple Science and Advanced Biology, she’s the kind of person who wonders if mitosis can explain why her deadlines keep multiplying. Beyond her studies, you’ll probably find her on the badminton court, at the piano, or piecing together Lego sets and puzzles with quiet determination. As an avid reader, Kris looks forward to fostering engaging, thoughtful discussions at BYMUN — where every debate is an experiment in ideas and perspectives.
