Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,

It is my honour to welcome you to the fourth edition of Bilingual Youth Model United Nations! 

​

BYMUN is the first bilingual model UN event in Southeast Asia that caters specifically to secondary school students. At BYMUN, we embrace the diversity of backgrounds and of viewpoints. Here, you will find not only like-minded peers, but also friends who would inspire you--sometimes challenge you, but who would ultimately make your time at BYMUN unforgettable.

A one-of-its-kind conference like BYMUN did not have an easy beginning; its conceptualisation and initial implementation was met with skepticism. We owe the success of BYMUN 2019 to the administrative support from Nanyang Girls’ High School, the team of passionate alumnae who served as advisors, the group of dedicated Chairpersons, and most importantly, our friends from home and abroad who saw the potential of BYMUN and supported it in every capacity.

As the Chinese saying goes, “千里之行，始于足下” a journey of a thousand miles begin with a small step, I hope that BYMUN can be a monumental step in your personal journey too. Perhaps the travel metaphor seems cynical amidst the Covid-19 situation, but regardless of whether you are a new delegate who is making her first debut, or a seasoned MUNner looking for new opportunities, I am sure that BYMUN will be a meaningful destination.
